Mt. SAC Relays Results Kansas Relays Results

WALNUT, Calif. - Senior Brandon Rooney's first-place finish in the men's 1,500-meter run highlighted competition for Iowa State at the Mount Sac Relays Friday. Rooney's time of 3:45.50 currently ranks as the 28th fastest time in the nation. Senior Jory Zunich finished 15th (3:49.15), a personal best.

Junior Elphas Sang finished 11th in the men's 800-meters (1:51.95). Junior Ben Murphy-Baum finished sixth in the 5,000-meters (14:12.06)

Sophomore Semehar Tesfaye finished sixth in the women's 5,000-meter elite race (16:09.31). Sophomore All-American Betsy Saina finished 15th (16:25.63).

LAWRENCE, Kansas - Junior Britta Christofferson placed eighth in the shot put (45-10.50), while freshman Hayli Bozarth and sophomore Danielle Frere finished ninth and 10th, Friday, at the Kansas Relays.

Senior Lashawn Wright finished first in the prelims of the 100-meter dash, and will compete Saturday in the finals at 2:25 p.m. Senior Jenna Caffrey qualified for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles, and will compete today in the finals at 1:25 p.m. Sophomore Kianna Elahi qualified for the finals of the 400-meter dash, and will compete today at 2:55 p.m. Precocious freshman Donnise Powell earned a spot in today's 400-meter hurdles final, which will begin at 3:15 p.m. Powell will also compete for the Iowa State women's 4x400-meter relay team at 5:05 p.m. today, along with Elahi, sophomore Callan Jacobson and senior Kersten Thorgaard.

The men's 4x100-meter relay team finished third in the prelims, and will compete in the finals Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The men's 4x400-meter relay team also qualified for the finals, finishing tied for first in the preliminary races, and will compete Saturday at 5:15 p.m.
