Travis Paulson Prepares for World Championships in Moscow

AMES, Iowa - Former Iowa State All-American and Council Bluffs native Travis Paulson will be making the trip to Moscow, Russia to compete at the 2010 World Championships for the U.S. men's freestyle team in the 74 kg (163 pounds) weight class.
Paulson, a three time All-American, defeated twin brother Trent in the finals of the challenge portion of the U.S. National Tournament to advance to a best-of-three final against 2010 NCAA Champion Andrew Howe of Wisconsin.
Despite a previous setback at the U.S. Open, Paulson had no problem clinching his first berth on the U.S. World Team, defeating Howe in two straight matches.
Paulson has been under the watchful eye of Cyclone head coach Kevin Jackson. Coach Jackson was the U.S. National Team coach from 2001-2008, and is a former World and Olympic gold medalist.
"There is no doubt that Travis is ready for the competition at the World Championships," Jackson said. "He has medaled at the toughest tournaments in the world. As long as he is healthy and wrestles according to plan, he has every chance to medal in Moscow."
The 74 kg weight class will weigh-in Saturday, and will wrestle Sunday.
