LAWRENCE, Kan. -Â Iowa State multi-event specialist
Jamal Currica leads the decathlon competition through five events on after the first day of the Kansas Relays, while
Jordon Andreassen leads the Cyclones in the heptathlon, sitting second after four events.
Currica recorded first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash, shot put and 400-meter dash, recording a personal best mark in the 400-meter dash (50.63) and 100-meter dash (10.40). Through five events, Currica leads the decathlon field with 3,582 points.
Through four events of the heptathlon, junior
Jordon Andreassen leads the Cyclone women, finishing day one in second-place with 3,028 points. Andreassen recorded second-place finishes in the high jump and shot put.
Action at the Kansas Relays continues Thursday for Iowa State with the conclusion of the decathlon and heptathlon competitions. Decathlon events are scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. CDT start with the heptathlon beginning at 9 a.m.
