LAWRENCE, Kan. -Â Senior multi-event specialist Jamal Currica recorded a runner-up finish in the decathlon Thursday at the Kansas Relays. Currica placed second by a difference of nine points, finishing the competition with 6,577. Nebraska's Teran Walford won the decathlon with 6,586 points.
En route to his second-place finish, Currica recorded victories in the 110-meter hurdles (15.15) and the pole vault (13-07.25), while finishing second in the discus and third in the 1,500-meter run and javelin throw.
Multi-event veteran Jordon Andreassen highlighted heptathlon competition for the Cyclones, finishing fourth, the highest of three Cyclone placewinners. Andreassen finished third in the javelin throw behind Iowa State freshman Jenny Dillon and fourth in the long jump.
Iowa State continues competition this weekend at the Musco Twilight Saturday night in Iowa City. Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of the meet.
