MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Big-10 opponent Minnesota swept the Iowa State tennis team Friday night, defeating the Cyclones 7-0 in duals.
The Golden Gophers met the Cyclones in September at their home tournament, and the squad wasted no time, clinching the match early after capturing the doubles point.
Cyclone senior Marie-Christine Chartier took her opponent, Aria Lambert, to a third set but was unable to hold off the Golden Gopher's No. 6 singles player. Chartier took the first set 6-1, but fell 6-2, 6-2 in the next two sets to suffer the loss. Minnesota clinched the series after Julia Courter's 6-4, 6-0 win over Simona Cacciuttolo.
Iowa State is on the road again next weekend, when the team travels to Kalamazoo, Mich. to face Western Michigan and Marquette
