The Landfall Tradition

10.28.2012 | Women's Golf
WILMINGTON, N.C. - The 2012 Landfall Tradition was shortened to just 18 holes thanks to Hurricane Sandy. The second and third rounds were wiped out by Sandy, as the Iowa State women golfers tied for 10th after a first-round 301 in Wilmington, N.C.
Most of the teams finished at least nine holes yesterday until play was suspended. There was hope to finish the final two rounds today, but poor weather persisted which eventually cut the tournament to an 18-hole event.
Iowa State, ranked 26th nationally, made a move yesterday in the second round, improving to fourth place before play was suspended. Second round scores were dismissed, however, when teams were unable to finish their rounds.
Oklahoma State was crowned the team champion at 292. The Tradition featured a field of 12 teams ranked in the nation's top-33 according to Golfstat.
Junior Sasikarn On-iam tied for 15th place to lead the Cyclones, posting a 73. Junior Prima Thammaraks fired a 74 to tie for 23rd.
Iowa State ends its fall season and will resume competition in February.
