AMES, Iowa – Big 12 Conference play begins Friday afternoon for the Iowa State tennis team. The Cyclones will start off this weekend's home stint against two top-15 nationally ranked schools.
The 3-10 Cyclones will play host to the No. 8 University of Texas Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Forker Tennis Courts. UT is 7-4 this season, coming off of a 4-3 non-conference loss against the University of Southern California Wednesday.
Following the Longhorn match, Iowa State will have Saturday off, but the team will jump right back into conference action Sunday, when they will battle No. 15 Texas A&M at 10:00 a.m. in the same place. The Aggies are 9-1 this season, with their only loss delivered by Mississippi back in January.
Sunday's match will wrap up Iowa State's Big 12 series against Texas A&M, with the Aggies' move to the SEC coming this summer.
Both matches are scheduled to be played outside, but if weather does not permit, the competition will be moved indoors to the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center.
