Currica Leads Cyclones at Jim Click Shootout

TUCSON, Ariz. – Iowa State senior Jamal Currica leads the Cyclones through the first day of the Jim Click Multi-Event Shootout, finishing day one of competition on Friday in fourth-place with 3801 points. Jamie Adjetey-Nelson from the Windsor Alumni Club leads the decathlon competition with 4199 points.
Currica sits in fourth place after recording a third-place finish in the 100-meter dash, a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash and a fifth-place finish in the long jump.
Iowa State's Troy Walls tied for first in the high jump competition clearing 6-07.50. Currica and redshirt freshman Matt Harmeyer also had personal best marks in the high jump.
Unattached competitor Uhunoma Usazuwa leads the heptathlon competition through four events with 3786 points. Cyclones Kelly McCoy (2806) and Hannah Willms (2671) rest in 19th and 21st, respectively, at the end of day one competition.
McCoy and Willms both recorded personal best marks in the high jump, while Willms also recorded a personal best time in the 100-meter hurdles.
The Jim Click Multi-Event Shootout continues Friday at noon CDT with the decathlon 110-meter hurdles. Live results are available through the University of Arizona athletics website. Results will be posted on cyclones.com at the conclusion of the day's events.
