Cyclones Complete Day One of Jim Duncan Invite

Des Moines, Iowa- The Iowa State track and field team competed in the Jim Duncan Invitational in Drake Stadium. The Cyclones had multiple personal best marks.
Freshman Kelly McCoy earned a new personal best in the long jump. She hit a mark of 17-05.25, placing third. Anna Holtermann competed unattached. Holtermann recorded a personal best mark of 17-08.00. Â
Cyclone Tressa Borchardt threw 133-04, placing fourth in the discus throw. Red-shirt freshman Christina Hillman competed in her first outdoor meet and earned fifth, throwing 131-07.
The Iowa State men were led by Taylor Sanderson's fifth-place finish in the javelin throw, at 147-06. Teammate Matt Harmeyer placed 10th at 129-05. Sanderson also placed third in the high jump with a mark of 6-04.75.Â
Steven Dato and Bethany Olson each competed in the 5000-meter run. Dato ran it in 14:50.28 for fifth in the men's race. Olson placed sixth and clocked in with a time of 18:26.27 in the women's race.Â
The Cyclones will begin events Saturday at 9 a.m. with the men's discus throw. Full results will be posted after the conclusion of the day's events on Cyclones.com.
