AMES, Iowa - Iowa State tennis will open up its spring season at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Fort Myers, Florida.
"This tournament is about getting back into the rhythm of things," head coach Armando Espinosa said. "It is good for us to go south to play a lot of matches and get exposed to the heat to get a little more conditioned."
Joining the Cyclones this weekend will be newcomer Ana Gasparovic. Gasparovic, a Zagreb, Croatia native, joins the team as a freshman.
"We are excited to have Ana as she is going to add depth to the team and be a great asset for us," Espinosa said. "Hopefully, she can assimilate as quickly as possible so we can hit the ground running."
Play for the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational will start Saturday and continue through Monday. The Cyclones could face student-athletes from FGCU, North Florida, Northwestern State, Liberty and North Texas.
