Cyclones Finish Play At Wildcat Invitational

TUCSON, Ariz. – Lydia Green and Talisa Merchiers picked up wins as Iowa State wrapped up play Sunday at the Wildcat Invitational.
Green earned a 6-1, 6-3 win against UTSA's Alena Shichkova to win the consolation title of the Crimson bracket. The freshman bounced back after dropping a three-set match in the opening round to finish 3-1 this weekend.
Merchiers beat UTSA's Lina Hallgren, 6-4, 6-3, to end the weekend on a good note.
Meghan Cassens fell to UTEP's Davina Meza, 6-1, 6-3, in her final match of the weekend and Caroline Andersen dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision to Cal State Northridge's Corinne Schnyder.
Iowa State returns to action next weekend with Ksenia Pronina, Samantha Budai and Ana Gasparovic competing at the ITA Regionals in Norman, Okla.
