Cyclones Finish ITA Qualifier Play

NORMAN, Okla.- Iowa State tennis players Samantha Budai and Ana Gasparovic finished qualifier play at the ITA Regional Championship tournament on Friday.
Gasparovic, a sophomore, earned a 6-1, 6-0 win in her first match of the day against Lauren Wagner of Nebraska. Gasparovic then fell to Minnesota's Julia Courter, 6-2, 6-3.
In her first match, Budai fell to Tulsa's Rongrong Leenabanchong after a hard-fought match, 6-3, 4-6, 12-14. The freshman's second match of the day resulted in another tough loss, this one to Kansas State's Maria Panaite, 3-6, 7-5, 10-5.
Ksenia Pronina will begin play tomorrow in Norman, with opponents for tournament play being released later. Pronina will also play doubles with Budai.
