DES MOINES, Iowa – Throwers Danielle Frere and Christina Hillman represented Iowa State at day four of the U.S.A. Track and Field Championships, Saturday. Frere placed seventh with a throw of 55-00.00, and Hillman finished ninth with a best hurl of 53-11.25.
Frere threw for the second-best mark in her career, eclipsing the 55-foot mark for the second time. The Muscatine, Iowa, native used her top throw to advance to the senior shot put finals and compete against the nation's elite hurlers. Frere improved more than three feet over her performance at the NCAA West Regional (51-10.75).
Hillman failed to reach the finals of today's action, but her top throw of 53-11.25 was still strong enough to notch the fifth top-10 finish by a Cyclone student-athlete. Her best throw came on her second attempt of the day.
Current incoming freshman Anna Holdiman finished 10th in the junior women's 1,500-meter finals.
