Cassens Earns Championship Title, 100th Career Win

MINNEAPOLIS- The Iowa State tennis team finished the third and final day of the Gopher Invitational was highlighted by an individual championship title and the 100th career win from senior Meghan Cassens.
Cassens defeated Minnesota's Aria Lambert, 7-5, 6-2, in the final round of play in the Gopher Flight.
Cassens also paired up with junior Ana Gasparovic for another first-place finish in doubles play, taking down Milwaukee's Alysa Straub and Christina Colarossi, 8-3, in the finals of their draw. The duo went 6-1 together in the tournament.
Cassens is now tied for ninth place with Liza Wischer (2007-11) in overall career wins for the Cyclones, tallying an impressive total of 101 wins.
Senior Ksenia Pronina earned a third-place finish today, taking down Northern Illinois' Nelle Youel, 4-6, 7-5, 1-0(9).
The Cyclones will be back on the courts in two weeks at South Dakota, Oct. 3-5.
