Cyclones Fall to UTEP in First Home Dual

AMES, Iowa- The Iowa State tennis team (1-1, 0-0 Big 12) held it's first home dual against UTEP (2-0, 0-0 CUSA) at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center on Sunday morning. The Cyclones fell to the Miners in a 4-3 loss.

The Cyclones lost the doubles point despite a strong start from the pairing of Budai/Buss in their 6-2 win over Santos/Kulicke. The Miners finished the doubles matches strong with back-to-back 6-2 victories.

Budai and Buss continue their strong play together, now wining their last six doubles matches as a pair.

The Miners used their momentum from their doubles victory to win their second dual match in spring play.

Liza Buss continued her singles success by defeating Duda Santos 6-2, 0-6, 7-6 (3). Her victory moves her singles record to 11-2 in her freshman campaign. Annabella Bonadonna wrapped up the day with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the last singles match.

The Cyclones will be back in action on January 30th at North Dakota at 10 a.m.
