AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State tennis team will kick off its spring season this Sunday in St. Augustine, Fla., against Flagler College at the Flager Tennis Center.
The first dual of the 2016 season will be against Flagler, which enters this season as six-time Division II regional participant. Flagler is currently ranked 31st nationally among Division II women's tennis teams.
This dual will be the first of 14 non-conference duals that the Cyclones will compete in.
Iowa State will look to use the momentum from its three successful fall tournaments to jump start their dual season.
The team wrapped up its last fall tournament of the season with three singles champions and two runner-ups finishes.
Liza Buss, Alejandra Galvis and Regina Espindola all finished the fall season at the Juan Varon Memorial Invitational with first-place finishes.
Iowa State started their fall season off in Minneapolis, Minn where the doubles teams of Ana Gasparovic/Annabella Bonadonna and Natalie Phippen/Anna Kuuttila both won their respective brackets.
The Cyclones followed up their first weekend by finishing 14-7 in singles play at the Drake Jamboree.
Freshman Liza Buss finished the fall season off 10-2 in singles play.
All athletes on the roster are available to compete as the Cyclones open their spring season.
The dual is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Sunday.
