AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State Softball team (15-24, 0-6 Big 12) returns to conference play this weekend with a three-game series vs. Baylor (32-6, 5-1 Big12) in Waco, Texas. The Cyclones and Lady Bears are set to face-off at Getterman Stadium, with game one on Friday scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Cyclone Headlines
-The Iowa State softball team (15-24) returns to Big 12 play this weekend with a three-game series vs. No. 13 Baylor (32-6) in Waco, Texas. The Cyclones will look to bounce back after dropping a pair of tightly-contested games at Nebraska on Wednesday.
-Iowa State is 12-34 all-time vs. Baylor in a series that dates back to 1980. The Lady Bears swept the Cyclones at the Cyclone Sports Complex in their series last season.
-Kelsey McFarland's junior campaign has been outstand thus far. The New Prague, Minn. native ranks No. 95 nationally and No. 2 in the Big 12 with a .413 batting average. McFarland leads the team with 50 hits and has stolen 10 bases in 37 games, after stealing one all of last season. McFarland went 4-for-8 with an RBI and a run in two games vs. Nebraska.
-Freshman Sami Williams already has two doubles and a home run in Big 12 play. The Laguna Niguel, Calif., native currently leads the conference in doubles this season with 13. Williams currently ranks among ISU's top-two in RBIs (1st - 23), doubles (1st - 13), home runs (T1st - 5), hits (2nd - 41) and runs scored (2nd - 21).
-The Cyclones are on pace to break the single-season school record for stolen bases. Despite returning just 12 steals from a season ago, the 2017 Cyclones already rank 2nd on the single-season list with 76, led by 19 for Cathlin Bingham, who ranks No. 2 in the Big 12. The current single-season team record is 89 (2013).
-For the first time this season, Iowa State started four freshmen in the field on March 26 vs. Texas Tech. Sami Williams (2B), Logan Schaben (SS), Talyn Lewis (3B) and Megan Schweitzer (LF) all garnered the starting nod in game two of the double header.
-The Cyclones entered conference play on a high-note, after going 4-1 last weekend at FGCU's Battle at the Beach. Iowa State avenged its only loss at the tournament in the weekend finale with a 5-2 victory over FGCU. Overall, Iowa State went 7-5 on their 11-day spring break trip.
-Pitcher Brianna Weilbacher put together one of the finest stretches of her career going into Big 12 play. The junior went 4-0 while the Cyclones were in Florida, picking up wins over UCF, IUPUI, Canisius and FGCU. Weilbacher had a 1.00 ERA at the FGCU tournament, while holding opponents to a .182 batting average.
-Williams also had another huge weekend at the Battle at the Beach, sparking the Cyclones to their 4-1 outing. Williams went 9-of-17 (.529) with 3 doubles, 5 RBIs and 3 runs at the tournament. Williams leads all Big 12 freshmen with 33 hits on the season.
-Weilbacher ranks No. 1 in the Big 12 and No. 25 nationally in strikeouts per seven innings with 9.28. The junior has a league-leading 133 strikeouts after seeing just 8.1 innings of work all of last season.
