Emma Whigham had a great finish on the final day of the Jim Click Shootout, recording two personal bests en route to a career-high score of 5,175 points to finish in fourth place. Whigham started the day with a career-best effort in the long jump at 18-3 1/2, and followed with a 120-5 in the javelin. Showing her track prowess yet again, Whigham closed the day on a huge note, clocking a 2:16.47 in the 800-meter run that was a six-second PR to get her a new career-high score.
Her mark of 5,175 points is 24 better than her score at the USATF Junior National Championships last June, and improved on her No. 3 score in ISU history.
As for Wyatt Rhoads, his career day came from his effort in the field. After a 15.76 to start the day in the 110 hurdles, Rhoads fired off a career-best in the discus with a 107-1. Though he did not get any career-best marks in the pole vault or javelin, he was close on each with efforts of 13-1 1/4 and 166-10, respectively. Closing the day in the 1,500-meter run, Rhoads was first across the line in 4:36.02. The sophomore's score of 6,558 was a 64-point improvement off his previous best score from the Big 12 Championships last May.
