WACO, Texas – Iowa State (15-26, 0-8 Big 12) lost to No. 13 Baylor (34-6, 7-1 Big 12) by a score of 7-0 on Saturday at Getterman Stadium. The Cyclones are now 0-2 on the weekend with the series finale set for Sunday.

The Cyclones were able to apply pressure to the Baylor defense early, putting runners on third base in each of the first two innings. Kelsey McFarland picked up the first hit of the day and eventually moved over to third on a passed ball in the first, and Kirsten Caudle reached and advanced to third on a BU error in the second. However, Iowa State was unable to capitalize and generate any runs off the chances.

A two-out rally for the Lady Bears in the bottom of the second led to three runs, as BU went ahead early. Lindsey Cargill started the spurt with a triple and would later steal home. Later in the inning, Sydney Christensen hit a two-run home run to put the Cyclones in a 3-0 hole. ISU starter Brianna Weilbacher would exit during the stretch and be replaced by sophomore Savannah Sanders.

Baylor added to its lead in the bottom of the fourth, loading the bases against Sanders before Emma Hylen entered. The Lady Bears picked up RBIs on a base hit and a fielder's choice to extend their lead to 5-0. Two more runs came across in the home half of the fifth on a bases loaded walk, followed by a ground-out RBI.

The Cyclones were unable to find an answer, as BU starter Gia Rodoni pitched a complete game, giving up no runs on five hits to pick up the win.

The Cyclones and Lady Bears are set to close out the series on Sunday at Getterman Stadium. First pitch of game three is set for 12 p.m. CT.
