Espindola To Represent Mexico At World University Games

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's tennis player Regina Espindola has qualified to represent Mexico at the 29th World University Games in Chinese Taipei from Aug. 19-30. The junior from Tabasco, Mexico will be among more than 5,000 athletes representing more than 120 countries in 22 sports.
Espindola will begin play Aug. 21 as tennis competition opens and continues through Aug. 28 at the Taipei Tennis Center, which has four indoor courts and 14 outdoor courts. Espindola will also participate in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
Espindola won 37 matches as a sophomore, posting a 19-12 record in singles action. She was 12-4 when playing at the No. 3 and No. 4 slots and had a 12-match win streak during the season.
