Cyclones Conclude Fall At UNM Halloween Classic

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team concludes its fall season at the 2018 UNM Halloween Classic in Albuquerque, N.M. The tournament is scheduled to run Friday through Sunday at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium and the Linda Estes Tennis Complex.Â
2018 UNM HALLOWEEN INVITATIONAL
Iowa State will be competing in singles and doubles against New Mexico, Colorado State, Illinois State and New Mexico State. Competing for the Cyclones this weekend will be Karen Alvarez, Annabella Bonadonna, Maty Cancini, Regina Espindola, Caroline Gibbens and Ekaterina Grib.
The Cyclones will begin with doubles action against New Mexico Friday at 8:30 a.m. Â

LAST TIME ON THE COURT
Cancini, a junior, made history for the Cyclones in her last time on the court. Cancini had an impressive showing at ITA Regionals, becoming the first Cyclone ever to advance to the quarterfinals.Â
Her tournament included upset wins against third-seeded and No. 73 Marina Guinart of Oklahoma State in the round of 32 as well as a three-set victory over Kansas' Plobrung Plipuech in the round of 16.
CYCLONE TENNIS QUICK HITS
-Six of the eight Cyclones to compete this fall have overall records above .500
-Annabella Bonadonna sits six wins shy of first place on the overall career doubles wins list. Bonadonna currently sits tied for third with 74 wins.Â
-Regina Espindola's 113 overall career wins is the ninth best in school history.
-Bonadonna is fourth on the overall career wins list with 137 career victories. She sits one win out of third place (Sarah Berres) and eight wins out of second place (Samantha Budai).
