Iowa State fell to Oklahoma 3-1 in Norman last Saturday. The Cyclone attack struggled, hitting just .121 on the evening. Oklahoma was able to keep the Cyclone offense out of sorts with 10 service aces on the evening, including seven in the second set. In defeat, Iowa State was led by a 14-kill and 17-dig double-double by Eleanor Holthaus.
K-State (7-12, 2-5 Big 12) comes into Saturday night's match off a dramatic 3-2 victory over Kansas Wednesday night in Manhattan. The Wildcats started the Sunflower Showdown losing the first two sets to KU, but came back to take the final three and the match.
The Wildcats were led by Anna Dixon's 21 kills. The freshman has become K-State's go-to hitter in Big 12 play, averaging 3.70 kills per set against league opponents. Fellow outside Brynn Carlson notched 15 kills, while right side Glorida Mutiri had 12. In the back row, libero Dru Kuck is the reigning Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after her 36 digs in K-State's five-set loss at Oklahoma on Oct. 16.
Iowa State swept the season series last year vs. the Wildcats and ISU's five-match winning streak against K-State is its second-longest active win streak against a Big 12 opponent. ISU has been particularly dominant in Hilton Coliseum, having won the two teams' last 11 meetings in Ames.
