The Cyclones will be looking for their third-straight season sweep of K-State, but face a much improved Wildcats team from the two sides' first meeting a fortnight ago in Ames.Â
Sunday night's match will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, here. Live stats will be provided by Kansas State, here.
Iowa State got its week started with a 3-0 sweep of West Virginia on Wednesday night. The Cyclone defense was strong again, recording 7.5 total blocks and 55 digs to help restrict the Mountaineers to .140 hitting. Leading the attack was freshman Annie Hatch, who notched 16 kills at a .375 hitting percentage in the win. Eleanor Holthaus had 10 kills at .350 hitting along with four digs and four blocks in the win.
K-State comes into Saturday's meeting at 8-14, 3-7 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats were off on Wednesday, with their most recent match being a 3-2 win over TCU in Manhattan. The Wildcats, now running a 6-2 offense full-time, recorded 15.0 total blocks in the win, led by eight from middle blocker Peyton Williams.
Iowa State won the first meeting between the two sides in Ames, 3-0, on Oct. 26. Iowa State dominated in serve and pass, with Michal Schuler leading ISU with four service aces as the Cyclones notched nine as a team. Hatch led ISU with 12 kills, while Candelaria Herrera had 11.
This will be the 94th all-time meeting between Iowa State and Kansas State, with the Cyclones leading the series 54-39. The Cyclones have won the last six meetings and will be looking for a third-straight win in Manhattan. A win would give ISU its longest streaks (seven overall, three at KSU) since 2008-11, when Iowa State won eight-striaght overall and four-straight at Ahearn Field House.
