Cyclones Fall To No. 8 Oklahoma State

AMES, Iowa - Iowa State (5-7, 1-3 Big 12) fell to No. 8 Oklahoma State (12-5, 3-0) Friday afternoon, 7-0. It was the Cyclones' first home outdoor match of the season at the Forker Courts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Ekaterina Grib and Regina Espindola went toe-to-toe with the No. 17 doubles pair in the nation, Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur. The Cyclone duo lead 4-3, before the match was halted after Oklahoma State clinched the doubles point.
Maty Cancini battled with No. 17 Katarina Stresnakova, but ultimately fell 4-6, 0-6.
In the No. 5 singles match, Margarita Timakova dropped the first set 1-6, but climbed back into the match, winning the second set, 6-4. Timakova fell in the third set tiebreaker, 8-10.
Ekaterina Grib found herself in a tight match with No. 117 Bunyawi Thamchaiwat in the No. 3 slot, but fell 3-6, 5-7.
UP NEXT
Iowa State is back in action Sunday against No. 30 Oklahoma. An announcement will be made Saturday as to the location of that match.
