After a tough day Friday against UCF, the Cyclone block stepped up early, with Avery Rhodes recording three early blocks to push the lead to 11-5. The Cyclone defense was stifling, restricting the Rebels to -.029 hitting for the frame. ISU wrapped up the first set when Lauren Bars set over her middle on the slide to make it 25-14 in favor of the Cyclones.
Set Two: Iowa State 25 Ole Miss 18
Piper Mauck's strong serving runs got put to use right away in the second set, as she helped the Cyclones build a 3-0 lead. Iowa State got ahead by as many as seven before the Rebels rallied to cut the Cyclone lead down to a point at 18-17. ISU bounced back, with Candelaria Herrera's ace making it 20-17 and allowing ISU to stay ahead for good. The Cyclones made it 2-0 when Rhodes and Eleanor Holthaus teamed for a block at 25-18.
Set Three: Ole Miss 25 Iowa State 22
The two teams played out an even first half of the set, with the biggest lead the Cyclones were able to get at two points and Ole Miss was only ever to get up by a point at the most. ISU was up 15-14 out of the media timeout, but Ole Miss struck back to move ahead 18-16. The Cyclones got back within one at 22-21, but could not make the next step, as the Rebels hit .310 for the frame and continued the match with an Emily Stroup kill at 25-22.
Set Four: Iowa State 25 Ole Miss 21
The fourth set was a defensive battle as the two teams struggled to find the floor. A 3-0 run allowed the Rebs to get ahead 14-12, but ISU worked its way back ahead at 20-19 on a Michal Schuler ace. The Rebels battled back to tie it at 21-21, but Ole Miss committed back-to-back attack errors and an Enna ace brought it to match point. The Cyclones notched their 14th block of the day when Herrera and Holthaus combined to stuff Anna Bair at 25-21.
