AMES, Iowa - Iowa State plays its first matches in Hilton Coliseum this weekend when the Cyclones host Texas Tech for a pair of matches. ISU and TTU meet on Friday at 4 p.m. and then again on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Iowa State opened the season last weekend with a 1-1 split at Kansas State, taking the Friday meeting 3-2 before falling to the Wildcats 3-1 on Saturday evening. Leading the way for the Cyclone attack was Eleanor Holthaus, who went into double figures in both matches and leads ISU with 3.00 kills per set at .281 hitting. Junior Brooke Andersen had her first two double-figure kill matches of her career and her first career double-double, while setter Jenna Brandt also had her first career double-double. At the net, Preseason All-Big 12 selection Candelaria Herrera notched 1.00 blocks per set in Manhattan.
Texas Tech also went 1-1 to open the season, splitting a pair against West Virginia in Lubbock last weekend. Tech opened the season last Thursday with a 3-0 sweep, but fell to the Mountaineers 3-1 on Friday evening. Leading the TTU attack was Brooke Kanas, who got her 2.83 kills per set at .455 hitting. Setter Alex Kirby was agressive at the net, recording 1.86 kills per set at .481 hitting along with dishing out 11.29 assists per frame. Red Raider libero Emerson Solano leads the Big 12 in digs, averaging 5.17 digs per frame.
Iowa State leads the all-time series between the two teams 28-23, but Texas Tech came out victorious in both meetings last season, picking up a pair of 3-1 victories in Ames and Lubbock. Before the recent swing of results, TTU had been one of Iowa State's favorite opponents, with the Cyclones winning 23 straight meetings from 2006-17. ISU head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch has 26 career wins over the Red Raiders, her most against a single opponent.
