LAWRENCE, Kan. – Iowa State's Maty Cancini earned a come-from-behind three-set win to highlight the action for the Cyclones Friday at the KU Invitational.
Cancini dropped the first set to Kansas' Sonia Smagina, 6-7 (2), but cruised in the second set to a 6-2 win. The senior then finished off Smagina with a 7-6 (3) win in the third.
With the win, Cancini improves to 3-1 in singles action this fall.
The Cyclones return to action Saturday morning with a pair of doubles matches for each player, followed by a singles match.
