Solid Finish Moves Cyclones To Ninth At The Prestige

La QUINTA, Calif. – The Iowa State men's golf team saved its best last by carding a 277 (7-under) in the final round of The Prestige Presented by Charles Schwab this afternoon.
The Cyclones counted four scores at par or below in the final round, as the squad jumped to ninth place in the final standings at 851 in the competitive 16-team field. No. 16 Texas won the team title at 832.
The Prestige is annually one of the top tournaments in the nation, and this year was no different. This year's field featured 11 teams ranked in the latest Golfstat top-50, including six in the top-25.
Tripp Kinney and Ricky Costello were the Cyclone leaders in the final round by carding a pair of 68s. Kinney's round featured three birdies and an eagle on the 337-yard, par-4 11th hole.
Kinney was the Cyclones' top finisher by tying for 14th at 210 (72-70-68).
Costello got hot on his second nine, shooting a 3-under 32 en route to the lowest round of his career (68). Costello tied for 17th in the medalist race at 211 (69-74-68).
Sam Vincent tied for 45th (217) thanks to back-to-back 70s in the last two rounds.
Iowa State is back in action at the Colleton River Collegiate, March 2-3 in Bluffton, S.C.
