AMES, Iowa – In lieu of the 2020 NCAA Championships, which were canceled due to the worldwide outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, the NWCA announced today its First, Second and Honorable Mention All-America Teams. In total six Cyclones earned All-America honors, with Ian Parker, Jarrett Degen and David Carr earning a spot on the first team, Alex Mackall and Gannon Gremmel being named second team and Sam Colbray earning honorable mention honors.
"During difficult times there are always people who rise to the occasion, and I'm proud of the action that the NWCA Division I Leadership Group in providing direction for honoring the 2020 Division I All-American team," NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer said. "It's important that these athletes' efforts and successes during the season are recognized. Congratulations to each of this year's honorees and National Qualifiers."
Alex Mackall – Second Team All-American
-Qualified for the NCAA Championships with a runner-up finish at the Big 12 Championship
-Two-time NCAA Qualifier
-19-7 record on the year (10-4 dual) with two major decisions, three technical falls and two pins
-8-6 record vs. wrestlers ranked in the NCAA Coaches Poll
-Fifth-place finisher at the Cliff Keen Last Vegas Invitational
Ian Parker – First Team All-American
-Qualified for the NCAA Championships by winning the Big 12 title at 141 pounds
-Iowa State's 212th conference champion and the first at 141 pounds since 2008
-Second-Team Academic All-Big 12 selection
-Two-time NCAA Qualifier
-22-3 record on the year (13-1 dual) with five major decisions and three pins
-8-3 record vs. wrestlers ranked in the NCAA Coaches Poll
-Fourth-place finisher at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational
Jarrett Degen – First Team All-American
-Qualified for the NCAA Championships with a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships
-2019 NCAA All-American, three-time NCAA Qualifier
-16-4 record on the year (5-2 dual) with two major decisions and three pins
-5-4 record vs. wrestlers ranked in the NCAA Coaches Poll
-Sixth-place finisher at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational
David Carr – First Team All-American
-Qualified for the NCAA Championships by winning the Big 12 title at 157 pounds
-Iowa State's 213th conference champion in school history, Iowa State's fifth freshman to win a Big 12 title
-First time qualifying for the NCAA Championships
-Second-team Academic All-Big 12 selection
-18-1 record on the year (9-0 dual) with five major decisions, two technical falls and two pins
-8-1 record vs. wrestlers ranked in the NCAA Coaches Poll
-Third-place finish at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational
Sam Colbray – Honorable Mention All-American
-Qualified for the NCAA Championships with a fourth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship

-Made the switch from 184 pounds to 174 pounds in January
-18-9 record on the year (10-4 dual) with three major decisions, one technical fall and three pins

Gannon Gremmel – Second Team All-American
