Alvarez, Cancini Named Academic All-Big 12

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State tennis players Karen Alvarez and Maty Cancini have received Academic All-Big 12 honors.
Alvarez, a senior finance major from Huixquilucan, Mexico, earns first-team honors for the third time in her career. She's the 16th Cyclone in school history to earn top-team accolades three times.
Maty Cancini, a senior management major from Valencia, Vanezuela, earned second-team accolades. It is her second career honor after earning first-team honors as a junior.
Cancini, who was 16-7 in singles action this season, announced April 14 that she would return for her senior season after COVID-19 shortened the 2019-20 campaign.
