AMES, Iowa — The Iowa State soccer team will face Texas Tech Thursday night in the first of two home matches this week at the Cyclone Soccer Complex. The annual Pink Game will kick off at 6 p.m. and will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
KEY STORYLINES
-Prior to the match, players and fans will hold up signs to recognize individuals who have impacted the lives of fans and players in attendance in support of breast cancer awareness.
-Iowa State returns to the Cyclone Soccer Complex, where they have won back-to-back matches. The Cyclones defeated Kansas 1-0 (Oct. 3) and Creighton (Sept. 16).
-The Cyclones have allowed just one goal at home in four matches in September and October, with that goal coming by 15th-ranked Memphis in overtime.
-Texas Tech is averaging 2.36 goals per match, which ranks second in the Big 12 and 33rd in the country. The 33 goals the Red Raiders have scored this year ranks 23rd in the nation.
-Iowa State is 7-4-1 all-time at home against the Red Raiders. The last two matches in Ames have gone to double overtime, with Texas Tech winning 1-0 in 2019 and the 2017 match finishing in a 1-1 draw.
-In the match against Texas, redshirt junior Kenady Adams and junior Eva Steckelberg each made their 25th career start. The pair is among six active players with 25 or more career starts on the roster.
-Junior Jordan Silkowitz recorded eight saves against Texas, as she now has 100 for her career. Silkowitz had 58 saves last season and has 42 through nine matches played this season.
