Iowa State Soccer Falls to #11 TCU

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State soccer team dropped a Big 12 match Sunday afternoon, as 11^th-ranked TCU defeated the Cyclones 3-0 at the Cyclone Soccer Complex. All three Horned Frog goals came in the first half.

Iowa State falls to 4-9 overall and 1-4 in Big 12 play with the loss, while the Horned Frogs improved to 13-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in league play. The Cyclones return to action on Thursday, traveling to Baylor. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Waco, Texas and will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.

"It was difficult," Iowa State Head Coach Matt Fannon said. "They are a team that has aspirations to make a big splash nationally. They were veterans all over the field and I think we panicked a bit in the first half hour and let them get on top of us. We slowly got our way back into the game, but by that stage it was a bit too late. We were so much better in the second half, we had more intensity and press and did a better job of following the game plan."

In the fifth minute, Camryn Lancaster scored her sixth goal of the season off an assist from Gracie Brian. Just under 13 minutes later, Grace Collins found Messiah Bright for her eighth goal of the season. The final goal came in the 45^th minute, as Brandi Peterson recorded her second goal of the season.

Mira Emma had two shots to lead the Cyclones, while Kenady Adams, Eva Steckelberg and Magdalena Keck also had a shot. Steckelberg had Iowa State's only shot on goal. Jordan Silkowitz suffered the loss in the net, as she dropped to 3-8 on the year with nine saves in 61:21 of action. Rachel Vander Hart made her Cyclone debut in the net, recording three saves in 28:39.

TCU had a 26-5 advantage in shots, including 16-1 in shots on goal. McKenna Schultz moved into a tie for ninth in school history in career matches played, appearing in her 78^th match. Taylor Bee recorded her 50^th start as a Cyclone.
