WACO, Texas – Baylor scored a pair of goals in the second half Thursday night, as the Bears beat Iowa State 2-0 in Big 12 soccer play.
The loss drops Iowa State to 4-10 overall and 1-5 in Big 12 play, while the Bears moved to 8-3-5 overall and 4-1-2 in league play. The Cyclones will host Oklahoma on Sunday at the Cyclone Soccer Complex. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and will be available on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
After a scoreless first half, Mackenzie Anthony gave the Bears the lead less than two minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal in the top left corner. With just under two minutes to play, Anthony added her second goal of the match off an assist by Elizabeth Kooiman.
Claudia Najera led the Cyclones with a pair of shots, while Anna Lindgren, Morina Suter-Doerig, Taylor Bee and Olivia Edwards each added a shot. Lindgren had the only shot on goal for the Cyclones. Rachel Vander Hart, making her first collegiate start, dropped to 0-1 in the net. Vander Hart tied a career-high with three saves. McKenna Schultz made her 79th career appearance for the Cyclones, as she moved into a tie for fourth in school history.
Baylor held a 15-6 advantage in shots, including 5-1 in shots on goal.
