Naklo And Both Doubles Teams Advance To Quarters

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa State's Thasaporn Naklo advanced to the quarterfinals as well as both Cyclone doubles teams at the ITA Central Regional Championships Saturday at the University of Iowa.
Naklo, the nation's No. 38 player, quickly disposed of Kansas' Tiffany Lagarde, 6-1, 6-2, in the round of 32. Naklo then beat K-State's Maria Linares, 6-4, 7-6 (2), to reach the quarterfinals where she will face Southeast Missouri's Romana Tarajova.
Naklo also reached the quarters in doubles action, teaming up with Christin Hsieh to beat the Tulsa pairing of Laia Conde Monfort and Shura Poppe, 8-1. Naklo and Hsieh will face Kansas' Maria Titova and Malkia Ngounoue on Sunday.
ISU's other doubles duo, Sofia Cabezas and Miska Kadleckova, fought off Tulsa's Valeryia Rozenkova and Maria Berlanga Bandera to win 8-6. The pair will face Ayumi Miyamoto and Dariya Detkovskaya in the quarterfinals.
Chie Kezuka saw her run come to an end in the round of 16. Kezuka beat KU's Sofia Smagina, 6-7 (8), 7-5, 7-5, before falling to No. 26 Indianna Spink of Arkansas in three sets. Kezuka took the first set from Spink, 6-2, but dropped the next two 5-7, 2-6.
