AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State track and field team saw 38 of its student-athletes named to the 2021 Academic All-Big 12 Track & Field Team, the conference announced Tuesday. The Cyclone women saw 21 named to the squad, while the ISU men had 17 honorees.
The Cyclone women were led by three student-athletes who named to the First Team with 4.00 GPAs in Dana Feyen (Kinesiology), Cailie Logue (Kinesiology) and Bailey Righi (Electrical and Computer Engineering). The other Iowa State women named to the First Team were Bria Barnes (Accounting), Jalaiya Bartley (Criminal Justice), Abby Caldwell (Open Option), Larkin Chapman (Anthropology), Antonella Creazzola (Supply Chain Management), Maggie Davis (Food Science and Human Nutrition), Grace Dickel (Microbiology), Megan Durbin (Communication Studies), Erika Furbeck (Elementary Education), Morgan Gigandet (Dietetics), Alexis Gourrier (Child, Adult and Family Services), Madelynn Hill (Linguistics), Laurel Hoogensen (Accounting), Brina Kraft (Aerospace Engineering), Kendra Leger (Liberal Studies), Janette Schraft (Political Science) and Keiara Williams (History). In addition, Kaylyn Hall (Art and Design) represented ISU on the Second Team.
For the Iowa State men, Jonathan Gannon (Civil Engineering) and Thomas Pollard (Information Systems and Business Analytics) made the First Team with 4.00 GPAs. The other Cyclone men to make the First Team were Mitchell Day (Liberal Studies), Addison Dehaven (Education), Eric Fogltanz (Human Computer Interaction), Scott Fuchs (Journalism and Mass Communication), Jack Garber (Civil Engineering), Festus Lagat (Sociology), Daniel Nixon (Family and Consumer Sciences), Vlad Pavlenko (Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering), Jeffery Pedersen (Entrepreneurship & Finance), Leonel Perez (Family and Consumer Sciences), Roshon Roomes (Open Option), Joe Schaefer (Finance) and Gable Sieperda (Finance). A pair of Cyclones in Charlie Johnson (Psychology) and David Too (Liberal Studies) made the Second Team.
First team members consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
