Cyclones To Play NC State In ITA Kickoff Weekend

AMES, Iowa – For the first time in the history of the program the Iowa State tennis team has been selected to participate in the 2022 ITA Kickoff Weekend., Jan. 28-31.

The Cyclones will head to Raleigh, North Carolina as a four-seed playing top-seeded North Carolina State in the opening round. ISU will face either Northwestern or Wake Forest in their second match. The advancing team moving to the next weekend of competition.

The Cyclones and Wolfpack met last season in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, with ISU putting a scare in the host. The Cyclones ultimately fell, 4-2, to the Wolfpack, who later advanced to the national semifinals.

Iowa State went 14-8 last season en route to its first NCAA Tournament appearance and earning a No. 34 ranking in the season-ending poll. The Cyclones return all but Maty Cancini from its singles lineup.

Iowa State won five matches against nationally-ranked teams, including the school's first five victories all-time against top-50 opponents.
