Cyclones Complete Day One of Fall Schedule

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team kicked off its fall schedule Friday, splitting the squad at the Kitty Harrison Invitational and the Gopher Invitational.
Kitty Harrison Invitational
Thasaporn Naklo, the nation's No. 38 singles player, started her season with a strong debut, earning a pair of singles wins and a double victory with partner Christin Hsieh.
Naklo and Hsieh advanced to the second round of the Heel bracket with a dominant 6-0 win against Virginia's Sara Ziodato and Nicole Kiefer.
In singles action, Naklo cruised past Old Dominion's Shahar Biran with a 6-2, 6-0 win. In the second round, she beat Virginia's Amber O'Dell, 6-4, 6-2. Naklo will face Northwestern's Clarissa Hand, who is ranked No. 90 nationally, in tomorrow's semifinals.
In other action at the Kitty Harrison Invitational, Miska Kadleckova bounced back after dropping her first match to defeat Wake Forest's Saby Nihalani, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (4).
Gopher Invitational
Chie Kezuka went 2-0 in doubles action while teaming up with Minnesota's Zeyneb Sarioglan. The pair beat Drake's Kelsey Neville and Yana Gaskell, 6-2, and then earned a 6-1 victory over South Dakota's Yulia Almiron and Anna Bukina.
Kezuka fell in three sets in singles action to Minnesota's Rachel Hanford, 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.
