AMES, Iowa – Iowa State (13-7, 5-2 Big 12) is back in action after taking down No. 1 Texas, traveling to Lubbock to meet Texas Tech (14-6, 3-4 Big 12) Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Despite No. 1 Texas outhitting Iowa State .359-.273, the Cyclones came out with the victory. ISU ends a streak of 10 losses when the opponent hits over .300. It is the third time under Christy Johnson-Lynch the Cyclones have accomplished the feat. Iowa State now has two ranked wins on the season as the Cyclones also topped No. 13 Baylor. The last time Iowa State beat both Texas and Baylor in the same season happened in 2016.
Iowa State also snapped a 13-match losing streak against top-five ranked teams with the Cyclones second program victory over a No. 1-ranked opponent. The previous win over a No. 1 occurred Sept. 15, 2012. It is also the sixth top-five win with Johnson-Lynch leading the team.
Annie Hatch hit seven kills on nine attempts (.778) in the second set as ISU finalized .429 hitting in the frame. Hatch totaled 14 to also match Eleanor Holthaus and Maya Duckworth. Solei Thomas rounded out the four Cyclones in double digits with 11 kills. As a team, the Cyclones passed the 1,000 kill season total with 64 on the match to now hold 1,037.
Holthaus performed to her 27th-career double-double (14 kills, 11 digs), joining Jaden Newsome as she notched the 20th of her career (21 assists, 13 digs). Newsome crossed the 1,900 career assists mark, now totaling 1,918.
Brooke Stonestreet went out to the seventh 20-plus dig performance of the season, totaling 25 on the match and 410 on her career. Seven matches the highest among the Big 12. Stonestreet ranks second in conference play with 5.03 per set.
Alexis Engelbrecht continues to stand at No. 2 in league action with an average of 1.31 blocks per set.
TEXAS TECH
Texas Tech took No. 14 Baylor to four sets last night, but fell by set scores of 20-25, 25-23, 25-27, 19-25. The Red Raiders are led by Ankeny, Iowa native Kenna Sauer who currently ranks fifth in conference matches with 3.50 per set.
In the all-time series, ISU leads 30-25. On the road, the Cyclones also stand in front with a record of 15-12. Last season, the two teams split the series.
