AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Jeremy Sudbury has announced the 2023 outdoor track and field schedule.
"I am excited to announce the completion of our 2022-2023 track and field schedule, the staff and I are excited to take the team to a number of meets that will give our athletes the opportunity to produce nationally competitive marks as they prepare for the post-season meets," Sudbury said. "The chance to visit UCF, a new conference rival, in March will be a highlight to our outdoor season as we look forward to them joining the conference. We too look forward to keeping our tradition alive of attending the Drake Relays and taking our annual trip to California for an assortment of meets to provide opportunity to each event group to have great weather to compete in."
Outdoor season begins March 17-18 with the UCF Black and Gold Invitational. Iowa State then takes on the Aztec Invitational on March 24-25. The Cyclones will split up March 31-April 1 for the Texas Relays, Stanford Invitational and the Illinois State Invite. On April 7, Central College hosts the Dutch Invitational. Another split weekend will see ISU at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. Sac Relays April 13-15 and at the Long Beach Invitational April 14-15. Iowa State then heads to Musco Twilight in Iowa City. The Drake Relays and Penn Relays take place April 27-29. The Cyclones follow that up with the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa on April 28 before hosting the ISU Alumni Invitational on May 6.
Postseason opens May 12-14 as Oklahoma hosts the Big 12 Outdoor Championships. NCAA West Preliminaries are slated for May 24-27 in Sacramento, Calif. and NCAA Outdoor Championships take place June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.
