Hall Win Highlights Friday T&F Competition

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Day two of competition at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State and the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State saw the Cyclones continue to put up strong performances to get the outdoor season rolling.

Friday's competitions saw ISU get its first event win of the outdoor season, coming at the Bobcat Invitational via Kaylyn Hall in the 400-meter hurdles. An event Hall had only briefly done in the past, she put up the best performance of her career in the event en route to getting the win, taking first in a personal best 59.32, over 2.6 seconds better than her previous best.

Other highlights at the Bobcat Invitational came in the field as Antonella Creazzola had her best collegiate throw in the women's hammer throw, taking sixth with a best effort of 188-9 (57.54m) on the day. Emily March also made the final, taking ninth with a nearly 18-foot PR of 178-0 (54.27m).

At Paul Derr Track in Raleigh, North Carolina the Iowa State contingent continued to put up good performances throughout, led by the steeplechase squad. 2021 Big 12 Outdoor bronze medalist Janette Scharft was in the fastest section, and took 10th in 10:25.16.

A pair of steeple debutants impressed, with Madelynn Hill taking second in Section 1 of the competition in 10:41.98 (good for No. 7 in ISU history) and Kiki Connelle was sixth in 11:03.43 (missing ISU's all-time top-10 by less than a second).

Iowa State wraps up competition for the weekend tomorrow. Running events at the Raleigh Relays begins at 10:45 a.m. Central, while field events start at 10 a.m., with running events at 2 p.m., at the Bobcat Invitational.
