THE SERIES
Friday will mark the 49th all-time meeting between Iowa State and Kansas State. The Wildcats hold a 34-14 advantage in the series, but the Cyclones took last year's matchup, 4-2, in Ames. Iowa State will be seeking its first win in Manhattan since 2015.
Iowa State and Kansas will play for the 53rd time on Sunday in a series that dates back to 1975. The Jayhawks lead the series 47-5, but the Cyclones won the last season's battle in dominant fashion, beating Kansas, 4-1, at home to end a 10-match losing streak to their conference rivals. Iowa State will be looking to beat the Jayhawks in back-to-back matches for the first time since 1981.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cyclones were in Texas last weekend, where they split Big 12 matches on the road. On Friday, Iowa State fell, 4-2, to No. 34 Texas Tech in a match that was closer than the score appears.
But the Cyclones bounced back on Sunday, beating No. 75 TCU, 6-1, for their first conference win of the season. The victory marked Iowa State's first-ever win in Fort Worth and their sixth ranked victory of the spring.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Iowa State's top singles player, Thasaporn Naklo, is having her best season yet, and she's doing it against elite competition. Her 19-8 singles record is good for a .704 winning percentage, the best of her career and second-best on the team, trailing only Chie Kezuka at .875. Five of Naklo's 19 wins have come against ranked opponents, with the latest coming last weekend when she knocked off No. 24 Margarita Skriabina of Texas Tech.
CYCLONE TENNIS QUICK HIT
Miska Kadleckova needs just one victory to break a tie with Kirsten Fagen for 2nd place on the all-time wins list at No. 3 singles.
