AMES, Iowa – It is a short weekend both in terms of travel and duration for the Iowa State track and field team this week, as the Cyclones will send a group of throwers and sprints/hurdles/multis to Iowa City for the Musco Twilight at the Francis X. Certzmeyer Track. Field competition begins at noon, early running sections at 2 p.m. and premier running sections at 3:45 p.m.
Saturday's competition will be streamed via BTN+, here. Live results will be provided by Wayzata Results, here.
After taking last weekend off, the throwers get back to work and will be looking to build off some strong performances at Arizona State two weeks ago. The effort was led by Emily March, who enters the weekend at No. 6 nationally in the discus with her season-best throw of 188-2 (57.35m). In the women's hammer throw, all three ISU women's throwers recorded PRs in Tempe, with Antonella Creazzola leading the way with her 193-6 (58.97m).
For the Iowa State men, Kevin Sakson will be looking to build off the season-best performances in both the shot put and discus he had two weeks ago, while Jonathan Gannon had a hammer throw PR at ASU and will also be in the discus.
Elsewhere, Sydney Willits is entered with another chance at her best event, the long jump, a week after recording her outdoor season-best 19-10 1/4 (6.05m) during the heptathlon at the Bryan Clay Invite. Joven Nelson also had a strong weekend, running to a personal best in the 400m hurdles and is entered again tomorrow.
