AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior men's golfer Lachlan Barker has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 First Team, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Barker was a four-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, while also being a two-time Srixon/Cleveland All-America Scholar. A three-time NCAA Regional participant, Barker led the Cyclones with a 72.16 stroke average and tallied a team-best 98 birdies.
Over his career, Barker compiled the second-lowest stroke average in school history at 72.06. His 16-career top-10 finishes ranks fifth in school history.
The 2021-22 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Barker was named to the at-large team, which is made up of student-athletes from the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling on the men's side.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. North Dakota State is in district six, which includes schools from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
