Cyclones To Face UCLA In ITA Kickoff Weekend

AMES, Iowa – The Iowa State tennis team has earned a spot in the 2023 ITA Kickoff Weekend, Jan. 27-30. The Cyclones will be playing in the event for the first time after earning a spot last year but having to pull out of competition due to health and safety protocols.
The Cyclones will head to Coral Gables, Florida, as a three-seed playing second-seeded UCLA in the opening match. ISU will face either Miami (Fla.) or Florida International in its second match. The advancing team moves on to the next weekend of competition.
The Cyclones and Bruins will be meeting for the first time.
Iowa State went 16-7 last season en route to its second NCAA Tournament appearance and earning a No. 35 ranking in the season-ending poll.
The Cyclones return their entire lineup from last year's team, which won six matches against top-50 opponents.
