AMES, Iowa - The Iowa State men's golf season came to a close with an eighth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship.Â
KEY STORYLINES
-The Cyclones concluded their season with an eighth place finish at the Big 12 Championship.
-Iowa State finished the year ranked No. 103 nationally by Golfstat and 106th by Golfweek.
-Iowa State carded a final-round 269 at Colleton River, the second-lowest 18-hole team score in school history.
-Iowa State had a solid showing at The Prestige, tying for ninth in the strong 24-team field.
-Senior Lachlan Barker finished his career with the second-lowest career stroke average in school history at 72.06. He also placed fifth in school history with 16 Top-10 finishes.
-Barker, who had a team-low 72.16 stroke average this year, posted two top-five finishes at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic and the Hawkeye Invitational.
-Barker finished the season ranked No. 234 by Golfstat and No. 237 by Golfweek.
-Luke Gutschewski broke the freshman 18-hole scoring record at the Colleton River Collegiate, firing a final-round 63. This was the second-lowest 18-hole round in Cyclone history.
-Gutschewski was a big surprise for the Cyclones this year, ranking second on the team in stroke average (73.36) and second in sub-70 rounds (4).
