AMES, Iowa - As Iowa State enters the peak of its fall season, the team will split and travel to opposite sides of the country to compete in the ITA All-American Championships and the Cal Fall Invitational.
The ITA All American Championships begin Saturday, Oct. 1 and ends Sunday, Oct. 9. Making the trip to Cary, North Carolina, to compete are Thasaporn Naklo, Ange Oby Kajuru, Miska Kadleckova, and Chie Kezuka. All four athletes have at least one meet under their belt so far this fall and all four have recorded at least one victory to date this season.
In doubles play, Kadleckova and Kajuru will pair up, as will Naklo and Kezuka. Both duos are set to take action in qualifying play which begins Monday, Oct. 3. In singles, Kezuka and Kadleckova will take the courts on Saturday in prequalifying. However, both Naklo and Kajuru won't begin their first singles match until Monday.
Entering the ITA All American Championships, Naklo has the chance to make history, as she has the opportunity to record win No. 100 in her collegiate career. With a win, the senior from Bangkok, Thailand would move up a spot to tie Erin Karonis, 2007-11, for 16th in career wins in program history.Â
The athletes that will travel to Berkeley, Calif. to represent the Cyclones in the Cal Fall invitational are Sofia Cabezas, Anna Supapitch Kuearum, Christin Hsieh. Although Kuearum has seen action in the West Texas Pro Tennis Open, this will be the first meet of the year for Cabezas and Hsieh.Â
Matches for the Cal Fall invitational are set to begin this Friday, Oct. 1, and end Sunday.
