MIAMI, Fla. – No. 24 Iowa State (3-1) came from behind to defeat No. 18 UCLA (1-1), 4-3, Saturday afternoon in the ITA Kickoff for its highest ranked win in program history.
The Cyclones, trailing 3-0 in the team score and one shy of dropping the dual, showed remarkable resiliency by winning the final four singles matches to pick up the dual victory.
"This was an incredible group effort today," head coach Boomer Saia said. "I'm extremely proud of our kids and their ability to believe and fight on every court. Our team dug in their heels and responded after losing the doubles and being down 3-0 in the team score. We are excited for the opportunity to go compete like Cyclones tomorrow."
Junior Miska Kadleckova earned her 100th collegiate victory, becoming the fastest player in Iowa State history to hit the mark. Kadleckova, with her sixth straight singles victory, improves her career record to 100-41, including 7-1 against ranked opponents this season.
"I think that it is awesome recognition," said Saia. "Miska has been such a steady kid in our lineup and battles so well."
