AMES, Iowa – Iowa State women's golf head coach Christie Martens has announced the signing of three new student-athletes. Nichakorn Pinprayoon, Alexandra Vidal and Yinuo (Isabella) Yan will be joining the Cyclonitas for the 2024-25 season.
"We are excited to sign Nichakorn, Alexandra and Isabella," said Martens. "They are the perfect fit for the culture we have at Iowa State. Their experience playing internationally will bode well with our team and we look forward to them joining us next season."
Lopburi, Thailand native, Pinprayoon is part of the Thailand National Golf team. She has ranked as high as 486th in the world in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). In October, Pinprayoon tied for ninth at the 89th Singha Thailand Amateur Open with a score of three-under-par. She has recently competed in the BGC Thailand LPGA Masters and the Thai LPGA Championship. Pinprayoon also finished third at the Singha Thailand Amateur Matchplay Championship in May 2023. She has a pair of wins and 12 Top 10 finishes in 18 counting events. She is ranked in the Top 50 of all players from Thailand on WAGR.
A native of Barcelona, Spain, Vidal has been a member of the Spanish National Team since 2022 and the Catalan Regional Team since 2017. She has ranked as high as No. 591 in the world on WAGR and is currently ranked as one of the top 40 players from Spain in the world. Vidal also served as the Champion representing Spain in both the Spain vs. France Match and the Hexagonal Costa Ballena. In 26 counting WAGR events, she has turned in nine Top 10 finishes. She took home top honors at the 2022 Barcelona International Golf Cup. This past summer, she finished 16th at the Campeonato de Espana Amateur V Memorial Emma Villacieros.
Yan is a Beijing, China native attending XCL International School. She has ranked as high as No. 346 in the world on WAGR and is the 16th-ranked player from China. In back-to-back events over the summer, she was runner-up at the Melaka Amateur Open and finished 15th at the Malaysian Ladies Amateur Open Championship. She opened the 2023 portion of her golf schedule with a sixth-place finish at the Selangor International Junior Championship. Yan has been competing on the SRIXON Malaysia Junior Development Tour, where she has finished in the top four in all four events, including a victory on the third leg. In 22 counting WAGR events, she has 20 Top 10 finishes and six victories.
The Iowa State women's golf team returns to action in February, competing in the UCF Challenge in Orlando Feb. 4-6.
