SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Iowa State women's golf team holds the lead after day one of the San Diego State Classic. The Cyclones posted a 592Â (303-289) through the first two rounds of the tournament and will go into the final round with a six shot lead over No. 39 Georgia.Â
Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn leads the team with a 36-hole score of 146 (76-70). The freshman's 70 in the second round propelled her into a tie for second place in the individual standings. Chul-Ak-Sorn will look to make up four shots on Georgia's Jo Hua Hung during the final day.Â
Taglao Jeeravivitaporn finds herself back inside the top 10 after a steady day on the course. Jeeravivitaporn knocked in four birdies on the day and posted rounds of 75 and 73 to place in a tie for eighth.Â
Ruby Chou and Liyana Durisic join Jeeravivitaporn and Chul-Ak-Sorn inside the top 10. Chou and Durisic are both tied for 10th place after carding a 149 tally. Chou leads the team in birdies with six on the day, four of them coming from her 73 in the second round.Â
Pammy Chookaew returned to the lineup this week and is tied for 33rd place. Chookaew got off to a slow start with an 82 in the first round, but bounced back with five birdies in the second round to card a 75 and get back inside the top 35.Â
The final round of the San Diego State Classic will begin the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 14.
