AMES, Iowa – The track and field season has reached the point the Cyclones have been working toward, the NCAA Championships. Action will take place Wednesday, June 7 through Saturday, June 10 at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin, Texas.
ESPNU and ESPN2 will broadcast the Championships and additional broadcast information can be found at the link above.
Iowa State has six entries in six events. Cailie Logue and Emily March will make their return to nationals while Ezekiel Rop, Janette Schraft and Sydney Willits will make their debut. Logue qualified for two events, the 5K and 10K.
Rop will begin action for Iowa State Wednesday, June 7 with the 1,500m at 6:46 p.m. CT. The junior earned his first-career trip to the Outdoor Championships after running past all competitors to win his heat in both the first rounds and quarterfinals. Rop's school record of 3:36.92 set at the Bryan Clay Invitational ranks fifth nationally this season.
Schraft will open competition for the women on Thursday, June 8 at 8:02 p.m. with the 3,000m steeplechase. Schraft holds the school record of 9:57.55 and is the first in ISU history to break 10 minutes and the first Cyclone woman to advance to nationals in the event.
Willits will compete next for the women in the long jump on Thursday at 9 p.m. The multi-event athlete is a first-time national qualifier after placing fifth at West Prelims with the new third-best mark in school history of 21-0 3/4 (6.42m). The true sophomore is the first ISU long jump national qualifier since Jhoanmy Luque in 2018 and the eighth woman in program history to advance to the Championships.
Logue will run in her first event, the 10K, on Thursday at 10:08 p.m. Logue placed fifth at NCAA West Prelims to qualify with 32:37.13. The four-time All-American returns to the event at nationals for the second time of her career.
On Saturday, June 10th Emily March will make her return in the discus at 7:35 p.m. Last season, March became a First-Team All-American with her eighth-place finish, the first woman in ISU history to earn All-America honors of any kind in the discus. The senior, who holds the school record of 191-11 (58.50m), placed fifth at West Prelims with 181-8 (55.37m), nearly hitting her season best.
Logue will then take on the 5K on Saturday at 9:55 p.m. The senior will compete in the outdoor 5K at nationals for the first time of her historic career to become the sixth ISU woman in program history to do so.
